Cool HVAC Calcs & Js, LLC – Your Ally in Building Code Compliance

Discover Renewable Energy Solutions for a Greener Future

Streamline Your Permitting Process with Expert Energy and Load Calculations in Florida!

Energy calculations are the foremost requirement of all construction projects, including new homes, additions, and renovations. They help assess the heating and cooling load requirements of a building based on its size, insulation, occupancy, and climate. Cool HVAC Calcs & Js, with more than seven decades of HVAC experience, provides reliable and prompt energy calculation services to property owners, builders, and architects. We also ensure our client’s construction project meets the latest energy efficiency standards.

We provide an all-inclusive package of residential energy calculations, which comprises

Current Florida Energy Calculations
ACCA Adequate Exposure Diversity Calculations
ACCA Manual J 8th Edition V2.5 Heat Load Calculations
ACCA Manual S HVAC Equipment Selection
ACCA Manual D Duct Pressure Loss Calculations
ACCA Manual T Room Air Device Selection
ACCA Manual ZR Residential Duct Zoning Design
CAD Generated Ductwork Design

We typically complete the energy calculations within three days of receiving the required plans and inspections and provide clients with the accurate engineering needed to design an HVAC system in a particular structure. Our rates vary based on the number of stories and systems.

Our ACCA HVAC Design Procedure

Note: The below-mentioned procedure is as per the compliance code and ensures precise energy code calculations.

Designers check if standard single-stage cooling equipment with a single thermostat can provide comfort in each room of the building served by the cooling system. Adequate Exposure Diversity (AED) is possible when the peak-hour fenestration heat load is not more than 30% of the average fenestration load. For buildings not meeting AED requirements, a duct zoning system is necessary, while buildings exceeding 50% calculation require a variable capacity cooling unit. AED calculation determines the hvac design manuals and hvac equipment selection, using either peak load or average load.

Manual ZR is necessary for buildings with limited exposure diversity. Balanced exposures across thermal zones allow for a thermostat in each zone, with a maximum of 30 zones per cooling system. Multilevel buildings with a single cooling system need at least one thermostat per living level. Our designers optimally size each thermal zone duct system based on peak heat load to meet peak hour conditions per zone.

To complete Manual J v2.5, the team finalizes the manual D duct design. They follow the Manual J design guide covering ACCA manuals AED, D, S, T, and ZR before the designer completes the Manual J heat load calculations, specifies a comfort system, and performs the energy code calculations. Intelligent CAD software links the ACCA design guides to the energy code software for efficient calculations.

The Manual D, T, duct-design CAD tool links each room’s information from the Manual J heat load procedure to size ducts as per the Manual D duct design and Manual T air device selection procedures. Our designers evaluate the actual duct area and mounting environment for precise graphics, providing critical data for air handler selection and energy code calculations.

Designers select HVAC equipment using Manual S once the Manual J heat load and ACCA HVAC design guides are known. Manual S adjusts the cooling equipment capacity as per actual site conditions and the building’s duct system, ensuring the capacity is not oversized by more than 15%. It also determines the ideal air handler fan setting, indoor coil conditions, unused latent capacity, and sensible heat ratio.
